Why: dives into the issue of privatizing human reproduction, a comedy that is noted as "blisteringly entertaining"

As You Like It


What: As You Like It 
Where: Regent's Park Open Air Theatre
When: July 6-28
Why: "open-hearted," note-worthy score, and honestly the single promo photo on the website is enough to make me want tickets

Measure for Measure


What: Measure for Measure
Where: The CLF Art Café
When: July 18
Why: promises a new interpretation of Shakespeare, unexpected twists, and is influenced by the Burlesque 

LIES(Almeida Theatre)

What: Lies
Where: Almeida theatre
When: August 1 -August 18
Why: It's an interactive play, and the setting sounds fascinating- we sit around tables and on high backed chairs. Tickets are currently 35 pounds, but 5 pound tickets go on sale in July.

Flesh and Bone (SoHo Theatre)

What: Flesh and Bone
Where: SoHo Theatre
When: 3 July-21 July
Why: won 5 awards, really high reviews, Shakespeare-Inspired lyricism, cheap tickets, playing in the space for emerging artists and companies (new playwrights), timeless themes

Unconditional (Battersea Arts Centre)

What: Unconditional
Where: Battersea Arts Centre
When: 3-5th of July
Why: it focuses on women characters (a mother-daughter relationship), touches on themes of equality and liberation, it has super cheap tickets, it is supposed to resonate on serious topics as well as be really funny in how it approaches those topics, it is a local work, it has the highest rating from several critics, it is playing super early in the trip and can help space out the shows/work

A Monster Calls (the Old Vic)

What: A Monster Calls
Where: the Old Vic
When: 7 July- 25 August
Why: adaption of Nesser's bestselling novel of the same name which had an unprecedented double win of both the Carnegie and Greenaway Medals, also a movie adaptation from 2017, explores themes of love/loss/ healing, 

Allelujah! (the Bridge Theatre)

What: Allelujah!
Where: the Bridge Theatre
When:July 11 onward
Why: it's a new play on its first run, its funny, its written by renowned playwright and actor Alan Bennett, its comments on the timelessness of the problem of poverty, the previews received high-ratings
